SOME REACTIONS TO TALES FROM THE FIVE RIVERS

"Punjab is in the North-West Region of the Indian subcontinent and is replete with tales of valour and sacrifice of the Sikh Gurus and their Sishyas (Sikhs). The tales from that land speak of positive spiritualism as opposed to the negation of reality and withdrawl from life challenges that was more prevalent at that time. Sikhism propagates the positive and encourages discipline in action to achieve life's highest goals – the emancipation of the self. Sikh religion originated in that part of the world as a historical necessity.

The Sakhis (stories) on Guru Nanak Dev and Guru Gobind Singh, eloquently written and carefully selected by the authors, reflect the lives of the people and their heritage in the truest sense and are also in an easily readable form. They fulfill the special needs of children growing up far away from their land of origin, amidst a new environment, system and culture. A unique feature of this collection is that it has been published trilingually in English, French and Gurmukhi, with excellent illustrations.

The authors are be lauded for their effort in producing this collection in a form that not only serves the purpose that it sets out to accomplish, but also in an attractive and permanently preservable format.
